Before Your Session
- Complete the Pre-Orientation Module
- Review Program Schedule (below) to ensure you arrive virtually on time to all of your program sessions
- Note: All academic advising sessions are for students only. Parents and family who are attending online orientation will have separate sessions to attend during that time.
- Set up your technology (instructions below) to ensure you are ready to connect on your Orientation day!
How to Join
- You will need an internet connection. Some of the presentations will be live and require consistent connection to the internet to participate.
- The program utilizes Zoom or the Zoom app on phone and tablet devices. We ask that you log into Zoom with your UCSB credentials (NetID and password).
- See the schedule below for specific Zoom links and Meeting IDs to join each event.
- Learn how to join a Zoom meeting from any computer, browser, operating system, or device app.
Important Details
All program times are Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
The schedule includes all the Zoom links and Meeting IDs needed to attend the workshops and presentations. Click on the title of any event to launch the Zoom meeting. If you are joining from another computer or device app, enter the Meeting ID.
If a password is shown next to an event, it is required in order to join.

9:00am-10:30am - Welcome & Academic Advising Overview
Meet our Orientation Interns, learn about the academic requirements needed to graduate from UCSB, and gain insight into courses specifically required for your major. At the end of the presentation, you will be provided with an opportunity to sign up for a 10-minute academic advising session with a College Advisor if you have additional academic questions.

11:00am - 12:00pm - How to Use GOLD
Learn about the Gaucho OnLine Data (GOLD) registration system. This workshop will provide an in-depth overview about how to sign up for classes, waitlist classes, and everything you need to be successful at your specific registration/pass time.

Meeting with College Advisors
Both the College of Engineering and the College of Letters & Science welcome incoming students with questions to meet with them after Advising Day.
College of Engineering students can utilize the "Book a meeting with" buttons on the College of Engineering Academic Advising website.
College of Letters & Science students can reserve a 15-minute appointment on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning to discuss registration strategies, review potential incoming credit, and brainstorm courses to enroll in for Fall 2026.
All students can always reach out to a College Advisor at any time during their educational journey at UCSB.
