Reserve Your Space in an Orientation Session

Reservations Information

Please read the information on this website about Freshman Orientation and Parent Orientation before submitting your reservation. Be sure to see the description of the student program options from which you can choose, and the policies outlined below regarding program fees. Your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) must be received by the UCSB Admissions Office before you can access the online Orientation reservation system.

To complete your reservation you will need:

  • Your preferred session date - and alternative dates if that session is not available

  • Your overnight option

  • The names of your parents who plan to attend Orientation - if you are not sure if your parents will attend, you can reserve your space in an Orientation session and sign back in to add them later

  • You do not need to pay the Orientation program fees when you reserve your space - you will be billed in the fall on your UCSB BARC Billing Statement

International Students - If you are an international student who will not be in the U.S. during the summer, you do not need to register on the Orientation reservation system. However, international students currently living in the U.S. are encouraged to attend Orientation. Please see the International Students page on this website for information on both required and optional pre-fall programs.

College of Engineering - Students who are admitted to the College of Engineering can reserve a space in any of the two-day freshman sessions except for June 28-29 and August 13-14.

College of Creative Studies - Several two-day freshman sessions will have specific advising and programming for CCS students and their parents. Students who are admitted to the College of Creative Studies must choose one of these session dates which have not yet been determined.

Reservation system opens in mid-May

Program Fees

Program fees for all participants will be billed in the fall on the student's UCSB BARC Billing Statement. Students are required to pay in full the amount of the fees for all participants, including parents and guests, who have registered for UCSB Orientation on their reservation. Fee payment deadlines will be noted on the statement. Fees are assessed per person.

Fee Reductions

A limited number of fee reductions are available to eligible students from families with an annual income of $35,000 or less. These are awarded based on need and in the order we receive applications until funds are depleted. To apply, print and mail the Application for a Fee Reduction which can be accessed below. If approved, the $75 fee reduction will be deducted from the total student program fee and the remainder will be billed in the fall. Fee reductions are for students only. Payment for parents must be made in full when you are billed in the fall.

Please note: You must also reserve your space in an Orientation session using the online reservation system by clicking on the link above. Your fee reduction application will not be processed if you have not submitted a reservation.

Applications must be received no later than July 15.

Application for a Fee Reduction available in mid-May
