Welcome to UCSB! To ensure that you are ready for your first quarter, UCSB encourages you to complete our three-step orientation process for international freshmen.
1. Complete the UCSB International Freshman Module. (required)
International freshmen must complete the International Freshman Module to learn important academic information and campus information related to their time at UCSB.
International Freshman Module link coming soon.
2. Attend an Online International Freshman Orientation session. (optional)
One-day online orientation sessions designed for international freshmen will take place in mid-August. Students will participate in group academic advising, meet with advisors, and have the opportunity to make adjustments to their fall quarter schedule. Students who attend an online session must complete the International Freshman Module prior to their session (see link above). The program fee for Online International Freshman Orientation is $153.
Registration for Online International Freshman sessions coming soon.
If you are an international freshman who will be in the U.S. in late June or July, contact us if you would like to attend an in-person session.
3. Attend CALI Training (Cultural Awareness, Laws, and Immigration Training) at the start of fall quarter. (required)
All incoming international students are required to complete CALI Training (Cultural Awareness, Laws, and Immigration Training). This is separate from the international freshman module provided by Orientation Programs.
Please visit the Office of International Students & Scholars website for more information about CALI.
Fall Course Registration
International freshman students will be registered for their appropriate courses by a college advisor. This registration process is ongoing during summer and will be completed by August. Students who attend an Online International Freshman Orientation will have the opportunity to make adjustments to their fall schedule (in consultation with an academic advisor).
Please note that the schedule you receive has been approved by a college advisor and should not be changed or altered without first consulting the college.
