Reservations Information

Please read the information on this website about Freshman Orientation and Parent Orientation before submitting your reservation. Be sure to see the description of fees and billing, the program overnight, and parent program info. Your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) must be received by UCSB Admissions before you can access the Orientation reservation system. You will need to create your UCSB NetID and password to register for Orientation.

Submit your reservation promptly! Space in each Orientation session is limited and session dates will close when they are full. Each Orientation session provides the same in-depth academic advising and fair access to classes. You must complete the process using the online reservation system to be confirmed for an Orientation session.

To complete your reservation you will need

  • To create your UCSB NetID and password 
  • Your preferred session date and your overnight option - and alternative dates if that session is not available
  • The names of your parents who plan to attend Orientation - if you're not sure if your parents will attend, you can reserve your space in a session and sign back in to add them later

Program fees

  • No payment is due when you make a reservation for Orientation.
  • You will be billed in the fall on your UCSB BARC Billing Statement.

College of Creative Studies: Students who are admitted to the College of Creative Studies should select one of the following two-day sessions to attend Freshman Orientation: June 27-28, July 1-2, July 18-19, July 25-26, July 29-30, and August 5-6. These sessions will have specific advising and programming for CCS students and their parents. 

International Students: Several online sessions are specifically designed for international freshmen only. Sign in to the reservation system below to reserve your space in a session. See the International Students page on this website for information on both required and optional pre-fall programs.

(NOTE: If you are trying to reserve an orientation session and your Net ID and password do not work, it may be that you activated your account recently and are not in the system yet; this can take 24-48 hours. Please wait 24 hours and then try again.)

Changes and Cancellations

Any change to your reservation is subject to availability and it is preferred that changes be made well in advance of your session date. You can make changes through the reservation system up to 10 days in advance of your session. Within 10 days, please email Orientation Reservations at sa-orientation@ucsb.edu for assistance. You must email us directly if you need to cancel your entire reservation, as this cannot be done online.

Special Arrangements

Orientation Programs welcomes requests for special arrangements due to a disability or other special need. Please email sa-orientation@ucsb.edu at least three weeks in advance so that we can make arrangements.
