Freshman In-Person Program Overview
Day One
- 7:30 - 9:10 AM Check-In at Manzanita Village +
- Check-In: Students and Parents receive their program materials.
- Campus Tours+: Depart at 8:15 AM, 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM from Manzanita Village Main Patio. Tours include a Library Tour, University Center Tour and General Campus Tour. Tours will be available at multiple times.
- Access Card: Students who submitted their Access Card photo before their Orientation session can pick up their Access Card from 8:00 - 9:00 AM.
- 9:20 AM Walk to Welcome Assembly from Manzanita Village +
- 9:45 AM Welcome Assembly +
- 10:45 AM Academic Advising I
- Students will learn about graduation requirements at UCSB.
- 12:15 AM Lunch in Carrillo Dining Commons +✧
- 1:30 PM Day One Breakout Sessions +
- Presentations and tours will be held relating to multiple campus resources: the Education Abroad Program, Recreation Center, Educational Opportunity Program and more.
- 3:00 PM Academic Advising II ▩
- Learn about course registration and receive 1-on-1 academic advising from your Orientation staffer.
- 6:00 PM Dinner in Carrillo Dining Commons +✧
- 7:00 PM Making the Most of Your First Year
- This presentation covers information about the transition to college life and includes authentic insights from our student panel.
- 9:00 PM Student Night Social
- Get to know other students through a mix of high-energy and relaxing activities.
Day Two
- 7:15 AM Breakfast in the Dining Commons +✧
- 9:00 AM Student Life Workshops
- 10:15 AM Academic College Presentation
- 11:30 AM Day Two Breakout Sessions +
- Choose between our Student Resource Fair in the Student Resource Building, or presentations held by other campus departments (Fraternity and Sorority Life, Veterans and Military Dependents and more).
- 12:30 PM - Lunch in the Dining Commons +✧
- 1:30 PM - Academic Advising III and Course Registration ▩
- Students will review our course registration system, then sign up for fall quarter classes.
- 4:00 PM - End of program. Students will finish course registration between 3:00 - 4:30 PM.

✧ Our campus dining commons can accommodate many diets with a variety of food options available. Dining commons menus will be posted online for the current day, plus six days in advance, and guests may use this Food Facts Tool to identify common allergens and determine safe foods to consume. Additionally, for guests with medically required gluten-free diets, there is a secured, Gluten-Free Cabinet in each dining commons that can be accessed with advance notice and coordination with our Dietitian. Any guests following a medically required gluten-free diet should contact sa-orientation@ucsb.edu at least seven days prior to their Orientation session.

Day One
- 9:30 AM Welcome Address & Program Overview
- 10:15 AM Academic Advising I
- Students will learn about graduation requirements at UCSB.
- 12:00 PM Virtual Lunch with an O-Staffer
- Ask our O-Staffers questions about campus life in a casual setting.
- 2:00 PM Special Tours & Workshops
- 3:00 PM Academic Advising II & 1:1 Academic Advising Appointments (1:1 advising times will vary).
- 7:00 PM Making the Most of Your First Year
- This presentation covers information about the transition to college life and includes authentic insights from our student panel.
- 8:45 PM Conclusion of the first day of Orientation.
Day Two
- 9:00 AM - Student Life Workshops
- 10:30 AM - Academic College Presentation
- 11:30 AM Day Two Breakout Sessions +
- Attend presentations held by Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL), Fraternity and Sorority Life, Career Services and more!
- 12:00 PM Virtual Lunch with an O-Staffer
- Ask our O-Staffers questions about campus life in a casual setting.
- 1:30 PM - Academic Advising III and Course Registration
- Students will review our course registration system, then sign up for fall quarter classes.
- 4:00 PM Close of program. Students will conclude course registration between 3:00 - 4:30 PM.
Students are expected to participate in the entire orientation session in order to speak with an advisor and register successfully for fall courses.
